Washington Revels seeks a full-time Executive Director

Revels is a truly amazing organization. I was lucky enough to be the Executive Director of California Revels, and the Marketing Director for Washington Revels. Our whole family has been involved with Revels, both on and off stage, since 1997. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this organization for someone who is looking for an Arts Executive position.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis through December 31, 2021.

An established cultural institution in the greater Washington, DC, area for over 35 years, Washington Revels is dedicated to reviving, sustaining, expanding, and celebrating cultural traditions — in music, dance, storytelling, and drama — that bind people together in spirit and joy. Annual events include the professionally staged and directed Christmas Revels (drawing thousands of attendees each December), May Revels, Community Sings, Pub Sings, parades and more, in venues ranging from outdoor parks to a 1500-seat theater.

Washington Revels seeks a full-time Executive Director to lead our performing arts community in its next phase of growth. As chief executive and leader of staff, reporting to the board, the primary goal is to guide the strategic implementation of Washington Revels’ mission. This will require a philanthropic leader with comprehensive knowledge of all matters related to institutional advancement and fundraising. Prospective candidates must have a demonstrated track record of effective management in a nonprofit organization of similar size and complexity. Prior experience in management of a performing arts group, in cultivating relationships with major donors and foundations, and in enhancing the diversity, equity, and inclusion of an organization, are a plus.

Two For a Song: You've Got That Thing! April 4, 2021 at 7:30pm (EDT)

Do you love the music of the 20s and 30s? Then you MUST check out this amazing duo. Doug's voice is glorious, and perfect for this style of music. And I think Alex has 4 hands, he gets so much sound out of the piano with his pianoodling! Truly virtuosic, both of them.

Bowles and Hassan of TWO FOR A SONG are back at the Emerson Avenue Covid-Safe Salon (both fully vaccinated) with their latest offering: YOU’VE GOT THAT THING.

What do they have? Just a collection of some of the most tuneful, sentimental, grand, delightful, witty, wonderful, syncopated and romantic tunes of the 1920s and 30s!!

The pair have chosen a stunning collection of some of the greatest and well-known songs by towering giants in the field. Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin, Johnny Mercer, Rodgers and Hart lead the pack in this tour-de-force of richly harmonic and delightfully articulate songs with melodies for the ages. The boys may “blow in like a boisterous breeze” but you’ll feel like “you’ve got the world on a string” after an evening with these two masters of the golden age style of vocalism and pianoodling.

Come join us for an unforgettable evening. Remember “there will never be another you” - an audience we adore. Heck, even after the “song has ended, the melody [will linger] on."
